Kossuth Foundation Language Program Announcement and Guidelines – Spring 2021 Semester

Program Overview – The Kossuth Foundation Hungarian language program offers stimulating online evening or weekend courses at all levels of study. New and returning students are welcome. If you are uncertain about which level may be right for you, please contact us. All courses are small and taught by experienced, native Hungarian teachers who have taught with us or elsewhere for many years. We strive to make the lessons educational, culturally rewarding, and fun. For the spring 2021 semester, courses are scheduled for 12 weeks starting during the week of Monday, January 11.

Class time – Because of the COVID-19 pandemic, we are not teaching in person until further notice. Instead, we offer online classes using Zoom. Most classes meet for two and a half hours, once per week and start between 6:00 and 7:00 p.m., Monday through Thursday evenings. One class meets on Saturday mornings at 9:00 a.m.

Course Tuition – The tuition for a 2.5-hour course is $300. The tuition will be due and payable in full 1 week before the start of the semester. That is, tuition payments are due by Sunday, January 3. Those who have paid tuition by the deadline will be assigned to classes on January 4. In the class-assignment process, returning students will be given priority to continue with their previous groups. Additional information about tuition payments can be found here.

Books – The courses use textbooks that are imported from the University of Pecs in Hungary. The Foundation offers these books for sale at the following prices:

Magyar-OK A1 books - $39.95 plus $2.40 DC sales tax = $42.35
Magyar-OK A2 books - $44.95 plus $2.70 DC sales tax = $47.65
Magyar-OK B1 books - $49.95 plus $3.00 DC sales tax = $52.95
Magyar-OK B2 books - $54.95 plus $3.30 DC sales tax = $58.25

We will send a PayPal invoice to the students who need books. Your teacher will let you know when to expect the invoices. Because the classes are not meeting in person, we will mail the books to you at our expense.

Payment Method – Payment can be made by credit card online on this website using PayPal—look for the "DONATE" link. Please designate payment as being for the books or for the course tuition. If you prefer paying by check please contact our Controller at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. to make the arrangements.
